 Integrative Health in Santa Rosa

Vladi Starkov, Licensed Acupuncturist, DMQ, CMT, Founder

Vladi Starkov is a Licensed Acupuncturist, Herbalist, and natural health practitioner in Sonoma County who comes from a lineage of women healers in Bulgaria. From an early age, she was fascinated by her grandmother’s stories about herbs, healing, and medicine. She always knew this was her calling, and in her teens became interested in Eastern philosophy, meditation, and Yoga. While pursuing her BA at Boston University, a friend suggested she see an acupuncturist for a medical condition. She was instantly intrigued by the holistic way this treatment led to miraculous results and addressed the entire human being. This experience along with her first class in Chinese Medicine in college helped set her on a path of healing and study.

Vladi has been practicing as an acupuncturist for many years, successfully addressing a wide variety of health conditions. She loves to help people who are ready to Flourish! Vladi is committed to facilitating and supporting her clients in their radical transformation. She has helped people with diverse pain conditions, fertility trouble, her pregnancy-related complaints, emotional problems, PMS, skin and digestive issues and many others. She has had more than 5,500 hours of academic and clinical training in Chinese Medicine theory, Western Medicine, Acupuncture, Herbology, Medical Qigong, and Nutrition and is a graduate of the prestigious Five Branches University. Vladi, an expert Santa Rosa acupuncturist, holds extensive training in the areas of pain, women’s health, fertility, Ayurveda and psycho-spiritual emotional balance.

Before founding Flourish Integrative Health in Santa Rosa, Vladi graduated from the renowned Doctorate Program at the International Institute of Medical Qigong and earned DMQ status (Doctor of Medical Qigong). She has had the greatest honor to be a student of renowned Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson in his Taoist mysticism, Medical Qigong and TaiJi classes for five years. Vladi loves to integrate “the best of the East” and is currently pursuing deeper training in Ayurveda and enjoying both the similarities and differences from her previous training. She is also a Certified Massage Therapist, with specialties in Asian Bodywork, namely Shiatsu, Lotus Hands, and Ayurvedic massage.

She loves living in California and enjoys hiking, dancing, singing in harmony, meditating, doing Yoga and Qigong, studying Buddhism, traveling internationally, and growing.

Vladi is in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and will be on maternity leave November 15-April 1st.

Zhouie Lee, Licensed Acupuncturist, DACM

Zhouie is a California Licensed Acupuncturist and holds a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco. As a 10-year-old, Zhouie began accompanying her mother, a midwife, to home births, and continued to work with her mom as she built Bumi Sehat Foundation in Bali, Indonesia. While Zhouie never developed a calling for midwifery, her many hours sitting with laboring women cultivated a love for the strength of women and the desire to be a part of women’s health care. Over the years, Zhouie continued to work with her mom as she built Bumi Sehat Foundation in Bali, and found herself spending more and more time at Bumi Sehat’s community-style acupuncture clinic.

Thomas Edison once said: “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.” While Traditional Chinese Medicine existed long before Edison spoke these words, acupuncture often heals by focusing on rebalancing the body and resolving the root of the issue, rather than treating the superficial symptoms. Zhouie believes that true healing comes from a whole-
body approach that often includes lifestyle modifications and dietary changes, as well as acupuncture and herbal medicine; and a partnership between provider and patient to work together in building positive and sustainable changes in their lives.

As a health care provider, Zhouie is committed to empowering her patients through knowledge about their bodies, and a belief that women’s health should reach far beyond just reproductive and physical health. Zhouie is especially passionate about treating women during pregnancy. Acupuncture is so effective in helping to alleviate morning sickness, physical discomfort, the emotional upheavals that pregnancy hormones and the pressures of carrying new life can bring, and help new moms to rebuild energy and strength after childbirth. Zhouie has also had the
privilege of studying closely with Dr. Johnson Chiu, who specializes in the treatment of
musculoskeletal injuries and pain.

When not treating patients, you will usually find Zhouie reading in the garden, practicing yoga,
or cooking for her family.

Zhouie is in the office Sundays and Mondays.

Stephanie Albert, Licensed Acupuncturist

Stephanie Albert holds a doctorate in acupuncture and Chinese medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. With a long-time interest in health and wellness, her journey into Chinese medicine began when she learned about the strong bond that acupuncturists forge with their patients. She is grateful for the opportunity to get to know her patients in depth, and to use that knowledge to help them make sustainable changes in their lives. She has benefitted from practicing at the renowned Lotus Center in San Francisco, working closely with Dr. Jung Kim with a focus on Korean Saam acupuncture, and interning at the Haight-Ashbury clinic in San Francisco.

Stephanie is passionate about enabling patients to heal themselves with minimal intervention. With a particular interest in research and integrative medicine, she focuses on making evidence-based suggestions for her patients whenever possible. While she is happy to tackle any issue that brings a patient into the clinic, she has worked most in-depth with male and female fertility issues, stress and anxiety, insomnia, and pain.

A San Francisco native, Stephanie is a recent transplant to Sonoma County. She loves edible gardening, baking cookies, hiking amongst trees, and rocking colorful cowboy boots whenever possible.
